This Business Objects Analyst will lead the development and deployment of Business Objects based Business Intelligence decision support systems. The primary roles are Business Objects Data Analyst, Crystal/Business Objects Report and Universe Designer, and BO system administrator. This position will design the presentation layer, manage Business Objects Universe for the data warehouse, and assist in the selection of operational environments. This person will install and support BI software tools, and develop the standards for BI coding and deployment. This person will work closely with the data warehouse group to gather business reporting requirements and convert them into data models and universes.

Selection process will include pre-employment background screening and education verification.

Education: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science/Information Systems or a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience required. Master's Degree preferred.

Experience: Minimum of five years of work-related experience, preferably in a university environment. Computer experience will include Oracle, Unix, Windows XP, and MS Office Suite.

Required qualifications/experience includes:

  • Three or more years implementing core Business Objects XIR2 products such as Universe Designer; DeskIntelligence, WebIntelligence and Crystal Reports Professional.
  • Two or more years Database design using major Relational Database Management Systems (e.g. Oracle, MySQL or SQL Server.)
  • Two or more years writing SQL queries (very strong SQL coding skills).

    Preferred experience includes:

  • One or more years Data warehousing/ETL processes
  • Strong knowledge in JAVA/JSP and J2EE Application Servers (Tomcat & Weblogic)
  • Strong knowledge of multiple server, load-balancing and failover clustering configurations
  • Designing, optimizing, and maintaining BOXI-R3 Universes, WebI & DeskI objects
  • Business Objects XI installation, configuring, and troubleshooting XI installation issues
  • Performance tuning/optimization of XI Universes, Reports and other objects
  • Thorough knowledge in defining BO XI R2 and R3 user and group security roles
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work with users in identifying their data access/query/reporting needs
  • Working with Windows and UNIX/Linux operating systems
  • Working with web technologies in application server environments (JAVA, or .NET)
  • Working with web servers and application servers based on Apache or IIS.
  • Familiarity with F5BigIP or Cisco ACE type solutions
  • Data modeling
  • End user support and training
  • Extensive knowledge of Banner or other Student Information System
  • Public Sector Experience
  • Technical and operational writing skills
  • Working knowledge of the UNIX command language and shell scripting
  • Ability to work with little supervision in a group environment
