ROLE of the POSITION The Division of Student Affairs provides quality services and programs that create educational opportunities, foster collegiate success, enhance continuous learning, and promote a just and inclusive campus. Working in partnership with the university and surrounding communities, Student Affairs is a student-centered division that strives to establish a safe and secure learning environment that is diverse, dynamic, and service-oriented. This position exists to assist the Assistant Director of Infrastructure Services in analyzing computing requirements, designing appropriate systems, identifying and purchasing appropriate software/hardware/literature and engaging in problem-solving sessions in order to develop appropriate responses for the students, professional, classified and student staff within the Division of Student Affairs. This individual must stay abreast of computer and database technology as it relates to the Division of Student Affairs and especially the Campus Life and Student Affairs Technology (SAT) Clusters, and assist in planning the upgrade and expansion of Campus Life and SAT systems to best take advantage of that technology. This position oversees the DHCP, Novell and network monitoring servers. QUALIFICATIONS Required: • Required: Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university plus two years of professional experience in a related field, or, equivalent combination of education and full-time experience • Trained in Novell administration, Linux and UNIX systems analysis and administration, OpenBSD analysis and administration. Macintosh hardware and software, Windows Vista, XP, NT, 2000, 98,95, Microsoft Office 2003 and 2007, Open Office, TCP/IP, Ethernet hardware, Internet technology. • Experience configuring, installing and maintaining a University residential (ResNet) network registration system. • Experience with networked environments that include PCs, networked printers, multiple servers, relational databases, tape backup, email, host computers, UNIX. • Experience configuring, installing and maintaining multiple DHCP servers for a medium size network. • Must be able to set priorities, handle multiple assignments, and work with minimal supervision under tight deadlines and in a multi-layered dynamic environment. Preferred: • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, management information systems, or related discipline from accredited university and 2 years professional experience in related field. • Ability to work with largely non-technical clientele and to communicate effectively with people possessing all levels of computing knowledge. • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a diverse group of employees and the University community. • Training and experience in database and computer system security. • Excellent communication skills, both verbally and in writing. • Possess strong administrative and organization skills. Successful candidate must pass a background screening. SALARY RANGE Salary competitive with those at similarly situated institutions. Commensurate with higher education labor market with an excellent benefit package. Position is contingent upon funding.
